You walk into a wilderness that has never been mapped. Not by us, not by anyone. There is no map screen. There never will be — this game simply does not have one.
What you see, you may draw. At camp each night, sketch what you remember: stamps for the things you passed, ink lines for the trails between them. That drawing is the only record that will ever exist.
From your second expedition on, you find your way by your own sketch — not the truth of the land. If you drew it vague, the land stays vague. If you drew it wrong, you go the wrong way.
At the end, a lost stranger arrives asking for the spring. You cannot walk with them. They will follow only what is on your paper — nothing you merely remember and never marked.
